KDE just fixed a 15-year-old bug that could lose your files after saying “copy complete.” A USB copy could say “complete” before the files were fully saved. Unplugging the drive then could lose them. Moving files was even riskier. The originals could be deleted before the USB drive had finished saving them. The fix makes it wait until the data is written before reporting success. If a move fails, the originals are kept. First reported in September 2011, the bug is finally fixed. The update arrives with KDE Frameworks 6.32 on November 13.
