Google Agent Search now lets developers disable three paid AI add-ons for each request: - semantic search; - KPI personalization; - generative answers. The crucial detail is the default. Under configurable pricing, applicable add-ons are enabled when the request omits searchAddonSpec or leaves its fields unset. That means an absent field can become a billing decision. Teams should route features by query intent, then log the requested flags, the add-ons actually applied, latency, user outcomes and cost under one trace ID. Otherwise, it is impossible to know which feature earned its charge.
